I realised a dream I’ve had over the last five years to see and photograph Christone “Kingfish” Ingram live. The pandemic and growing publicity meant that it’s been a long wait, but one really worth holding on for. He was electric, he was flawless, he commanded the crowd with every note he played, and every lyric he delivered. He was FLAWLESS. His touring band were also exceptional in every way.
Personally, I delighted in the crowd walk during the fifth song “Too Young To Remember” – as British crowds aren’t so used to this kind of showmanship.
All in this one week, I had the honour of photographing Kingfish (23), King Solomon Hicks (27), and Toby Lee (17). I can say with confidence – the blues is in safe hands.
